Everyone looking to purchase homes near Charlottesville desires Ivy VA real estate because of its wonderful location.
Ivy VA real estate is so popular that there is never more than one house for sale at a time.
Why live in Ivy? – Ivy is located due west of the city of Charlottesville and is in the highly sought-after Western Albemarle School District of Ivy Elementary, Murray Elementary, Henley Middle, and Western Albemarle High Schools
Note – Crozet is the next town west of Ivy.
Ivy is merely a tiny hamlet of 20 small stores.
There’s a post office, garden center, Duner’s restaurant, chiropractor, vineyard/brewery, and an Exxon gas station with full-time mechanics.
While you can miss Ivy in a blink of an eye there is something special about it. You can’t beat the location.
Farmington Country Club, Boar’s Head Resort, the Greencroft Club, and Blue Ridge Swim Club are all here.
This is why there are never more than one or two homes for sale in Ivy at one time.
From July 2021 to July 2023, only 17 houses for sale in Ivy were sold.
One was sold in Peacock Hill and the other in nearby Langford Farms.
Note – You have to move quickly if looking for houses for sale in Ivy VA.
Note – There are no townhomes or condos in the Ivy neighborhood.
However, there are condos in Ednam and White Gables, and townhomes at Kenridge all of which are just east of Ivy.
Note – The tiny railroad stop (once known as Ivy Depot) is the birthplace of Meriwether Lewis at Locust Hill Plantation.
Location – Ivy is 12 mins from the University of Virginia. Downtown Charlottesville on Rt 250 is 20 mins. However, there is an on-off ramp off I-64 for Ivy at exit 114.
Ivy is host to the biannual (Spring and Fall) Foxfield Steeplechase Races.
Both the 28-hole Farmington Country Club and Birdwood Golf (UVA’s home course) courses are located here.
Ivy is one of the older towns in Albemarle County and is home to numerous 18th and early 19th-century historic homes.
One of the oldest churches in Central Virginia is St. Paul’s Episcopal.
